I Count Two, Two Three. Breathe, Two, Three.

I am trying to puzzle out the mystery that is The Thermals. Because they sound...sort of angry, thrashing guitars, the singer shouts a confrontation at you. Yet the songs are quietly emotional, even sweet. Last week I heard "How We Know" again after a long time. I can't remember the first time I heard it or if I liked it--I only know that it sounds familiar. But hearing it recently made me sort of lose my mind, gave me a dizzying hopeless-romantic feeling. The lyrics, I guess, and the way the song goes from controlled to loud and back...but I can't tell now, which words. I still get the feeling. Amorphous, atmospheric.

The thing I immediately paired it with then, and still do now, was Twilight. I know, I shouldn't be sullying a band like The Thermals with books like those. But I heard it and was reminded immediately of A Devastating Love.

In Leela news, I am now officially the Copy Editor for the yearbook. Meaning, grammar mistakes? All on my shoulders. Deep breath, grip The Elements of Style for support, and start debating the use of "however."
